We are so excited to be a sponsor of the Fox31/CW2 Home Green Over Project – a massive home comfort, health & performance educational contest & subsequent home improvement project. What an amazing opportunity to showcase our one-stop solution to all of Colorado – one call and you’re off to a more comfortable, healthy, and energy efficient home!

A year in the making, the focus of the Home Green-Over Project is to provide information on new products and technologies that radically improve the comfort and energy performance of your home. Utilize the Home Green Over Project page as a “hub” to quickly access a wealth of expertise and information that will save you considerable time and money on your own home green-over project!

Phase 1: The Contest

From mid-March to mid-April, contestants entered to win a home comfort and energy remodel worth up to $75,000. With the help of the Green-Over Project’s home performance experts, Fox31/CW2 educated Colorado homeowners via news and Martino TV segments, a dedicated webpage complete with interactive tours, and a Facebook fanpage with educational posts and great giveaways.

Denver metro homeowners showed their overwhelming support and excitement by creating over 5,000 entries! To choose the winner, EcoSmart completed 20 walk-through energy audits of the top contending homes. We looked for a special family and a home that would greatly benefit from the help of all of the Home Green Over Project Sponsors–one that had high energy bills, extensive comfort issues, and needed:

decreased energy demands through measures like air sealing, insulation, new appliances & HVAC equipment, and window replacement
improved air quality with proper ventilation and attention to moisture sources
renewable energy production via a roof-mounted solar electric system

The winning home was announced April 22nd, 2011 (Earth Day) and the lovely & lucky Rodrakkwan family could not be happier! Watch the short videos below to hear their story. It’s a good one! The Rodrakkwan’s 8 year old daughter had been learning about renewable energy at school. She caught a commercial for the Home Green-Over Project and pressed her mom to enter! Skeptical at first, Monique finally relented…Now her daughter will get to learn all about green and sustainable living first-hand!

EcoSmart Homes conducted an extensive whole-house energy audit o 4/29/11, and the Rodrakkwan’s are looking forward to hearing how their home will be transformed in June! Ecosmart Homes is excited to serve as general contractor throughout the upgrade process, and can’t wait to help the Rodrakkwan’s enjoy a more comfortable, healthy, and energy efficient home. The results will be verified and monitored upon completion, proving that an uncomfortable, energy-leaky house can be made into a healthy, comfortable, energy-efficient, more valuable smart home!
