Super Insulation Wall Details: Practical Considerations & Cost
This presentation focuses on super insulated wall details and costs. There are a myriad of ways to create a super insulated wall. Eric will focus on his experience at building super insulated wall sections with a comparison of costs and practical considerations. The most important practical considerations include window choice, window installation, maintenance-free exterior, and the junctions of the wall with the floor, foundation, ceiling, and roof. We will offer metrics for comparing wall components and wall sections including, cost per square foot and cost per R per square foot.
By attending this session, participants will:
1. Know several methods of attaching foam sheeting to buildings and attaching cladding to the foam insulation
2. Understand types of windows, glass choices, and methods of installation
3. Learn how to eliminate air leaks and thermal bridging at critical junctions
