The project launched in late March with a contest offering homeowners the chance to win a complete home energy performance remodel worth up to $75,000. The winning home will undergo all of the recommended upgrades, which aim to decrease energy demands through measures like air sealing, insulation, and window replacement, improve air quality with proper ventilation and attention to moisture sources, as well as add renewable energy production by adding a solar electric system. The results will be verified upon completion, proving that an uncomfortable, energy-leaky house can be made into a healthy, comfortable, energy-efficient, more valuable smart home!
